Hyderabad Weather: The cold intensity has increased across the Telugu states, making people reluctant to step out of their homes, especially in the morning and evening. The chilly weather has affected both rural and urban areas. Even after sunrise, the cold remains intense, forcing people to wrap up in blankets.
The temperature has dropped significantly over the past two to three days in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The weather department has issued warnings about this trend continuing throughout the month, with the possibility of even more severe cold during Sankranti. People traveling to villages for the festival are advised to be cautious.
In Andhra Pradesh, the coldest temperatures have been recorded in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, with Lambasingi (known as the “Kashmir of Andhra”) seeing a chilling 0°C temperature. Over the coming days, the temperature may drop further, potentially reaching negative degrees Celsius. Sundara tourist spot in the district also recorded a low of 3.8°C, while other areas like Chintapalli, Dumbri Gudda, and G. Madugula recorded temperatures as low as 4°C, 6°C, and 8.3°C respectively.
In Telangana, the coldest temperatures are being experienced in Adilabad district, where the temperatures have already reached single digits in several areas. The Sirpur area recorded 6.5°C, Sangareddy reported 6.9°C, and Adilabad itself saw a low of 7.1°C. The weather department has issued an yellow alert in these areas, expecting the cold to intensify. Similarly, in Medak, Siddipet, Bhupalpally, Narayana Peta, and Jagityala districts, temperatures have also dropped below 10°C.
Even in Hyderabad, the city is experiencing extreme cold with heavy fog covering the streets in the early hours of the morning. The cold is affecting walkers, joggers, and GHMC workers, who are facing difficulties due to the weather conditions. Surrounding districts like Rangareddy, Vikarabad, and Medchal are also feeling the brunt of the cold.
The weather department has advised people to take extra precautions, particularly for those living in colder regions and those traveling during this chilly season.
