Sanitation workers from Tanur’s village panchayats have entered the second day of their strike, demanding fair wages, PF, ESI facilities, and permanent job assurances. The workers marched from the MPDO office to the bus stand, presenting a memorandum to MPDO Abdul Samad. They warned of escalating protests if their issues are not resolved immediately.
In Nirmal district’s Tanur mandal, sanitation workers employed in village panchayats continued their strike on December 28, 2024, entering its second day. Under the leadership of CITU, the workers staged a rally from the MPDO office to the bus stand, expressing their frustration. They later sat on the road, further intensifying their protest.
The workers presented a memorandum to MPDO Abdul Samad, outlining their demands. Tanur mandal president, R. Ramesh, urged the government to immediately take action to ensure fair wages, Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI) facilities, and permanent job security for the workers. He also insisted on the immediate release of pending salaries, threatening further intensification of the protests if their demands were not met.
The protest saw the participation of vice-president D. Gangadhar, Uma Kanth, Madhav Rao, Hanmandlu, Amrit Rao, Pawar Ramesh, Kishan Pawar, Kalpana Bai, CITU leaders, and panchayat workers, who all voiced their support for the cause.
