Telangana Police have been internationally recognized for their innovative use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) during the 2024 Vinayaka Nimajjanam. This year’s Ganesh Chaturthi saw over a lakh idols immersed in various water bodies, with the police effectively managing the massive crowd through AI-powered drones, GIS mapping, and AI-driven analytics. These technologies helped prevent stampedes, manage traffic, and ensure environmental protection throughout the celebrations.
The Telangana Police Department was awarded the prestigious “Top Sustainability Initiative” award at the Digital Engineering Awards, which are given to government agencies and organizations that utilize advanced technologies for public safety and welfare. The award was presented in partnership with L&T Technology Services, ISGI, and CNBC-TV18. Telangana’s use of smart city technology in crowd management was particularly praised, with the committee recognizing the state’s pioneering standards.
