Bainsa, November 18:
The decline in journalism’s values and the rise of unethical practices are a result of the failures of media associations that have represented journalists for over 60 years, stated Working Journalists of India (WJI) Telangana leaders. Addressing a membership enrollment drive at Khathagam Ved Tapovan International School in Bainsa, WJI Telangana Vice President Taduru Karunakar and Secretary Shivanadri Pramod Kumar criticized the leadership of Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivasa Reddy.
They alleged that the chairman’s lack of proactive measures contributed to the profession’s degradation. The rural journalists’ plight and the challenges faced by local publications were also highlighted, with demands for better wages, job security, and reforms in accreditation processes.
Karunakar emphasized the need for skill training sessions for young journalists entering the field and called for collective efforts to preserve journalistic values. The meeting witnessed participation from several local journalists, coordinated by senior journalist Madhav Rao, and WJI leaders Dharam Jagannatha Reddy and T. Satyanarayana.
