Nirmal, November 27 (M4News):

Residents of Dilawarpur Mandal have been protesting for 126 days, demanding the cancellation of an ethanol factory. Their perseverance led to a major breakthrough as CM Revanth Reddy directed the suspension of all ongoing factory operations.

On Tuesday, frustrated with the lack of response from officials, villagers blocked the Nirmal-Bhainsa National Highway 61, causing massive traffic congestion for several kilometers. Travelers faced significant inconvenience as protesters sat on the road, conducted a cookout, and stayed overnight at the protest site.

District Collector Abhilash Abhinav and SP Janaki Sharmila brought the issue to the Chief Minister’s attention. Responding swiftly, CM Revanth Reddy ordered an immediate halt to the factory works. Collector Abhilash Abhinav announced the suspension to the public, reassuring them that further action would be taken.

SP Janaki Sharmila urged residents not to believe in rumors and praised the CM for addressing the issue promptly. She advised maintaining peace and refraining from violence. The police assured their support to resolve any issues faced by the community.

Residents celebrated the decision by bursting firecrackers on the road. According to SP Sharmila, reports regarding the factory will be forwarded to the central and state governments for further examination.
